Inspired by crispy-ghee’s AU things.

I’ve been binging on old episodes of Law & Order and SVU, and as a result, Law & Order: Alexandria.

Detectives Benson and Stabler Beatrix and Steiner, working homicides and stuff, always pulling good cop/loud cop on suspects. As an aside, it is really hard to draw Steiner in a trenchcoat and not turn him into Zenigata.

OMG YES! I’m so glad someone else thought this was a good idea! It was something that crossed my mind ages ago (not exactly in this direction) but I never acted upon it. So seeing this—and jadie doing it to boot—makes me obnoxiously happy!

Final Fantasy IX Blog: The Dark Side of the Force: How and Why Queen Brahne of Final Fantasy IX Met a Similar Fate as one of the Most Famous...

ffixblog:

When I was a kid, before I had ever heard of Final Fantasy, there was another franchise that sucked up most of my free time: Star Wars. I would watch those movies day and night, over and over (The Empire Strikes Back was always my favorite). When we weren’t watching the VHS (which was normally…

FF9 fandom I heart you <3 (There’s gonna be a spoiler in my response, so people still new to this game scroll right on past)

I am by no stretch a Star Wars fan, but I did find this comparison really interesting and pretty spot on. Brahne (and I suppose Vadar in turn) are somewhat tragic in that they started out innocent, go through their period of vileness, only to see the error of their ways.

It’s hinted that the death of her husband was the catalyst in Brahne’s change. But I almost wonder if things hadn’t started to turn when the original Garnet had died. I can’t imagine what this woman must’ve went through, first loosing a daughter and then her husband. To outlive both must’ve been offal, and took a huge emotional toll upon her. Granted, Garnet was replaced easily enough, but I almost wonder if the “switch” may have felt a hollow substitute for her. Just because a random girl pulled off the shoreline looked similar to your daughter, didn’t mean she shared the same personality as the one that was lost. It’s also possible that Brahne was so quick to turn on Garnet, justifying that she wasn’t truly her daughter. That’s not to say Brahne hadn’t shown love towards the replacement Garnet, but it does put things a little more in scope.

On some level I wouldn’t mind seeing more exploration to Brahne’s character before her erratic behaviors began—-but then there are a lot more things I’d wished the game explored more (A bit more elaboration on Freya’s storyline for instance).
